Frequently asked questions

What restaurant owners ask us

How often should a professional hood be cleaned?

It depends on your kitchen. A greasy kitchen (frying, grill, wok, kebab, buffet) requires at least two visits per year. A low-grease kitchen may be fine with one visit a year. Also check what your fire insurance policy provides for: that is what prevails.

I am selling my restaurant: what happens to my contract?

The contract passes to the buyer, with the same visit schedule and the same guarantee. If the buyer does not wish to continue with SOS-Hottes, the contract ends: amounts already paid are not refunded and the motor and speed controller guarantee stops.

What happens if I do not pay my monthly fees?

A cash-flow problem? Let us know at the first delay: we can agree on a one-off staggered payment. Without word from you, the contract is cancelled after three unpaid monthly fees in a row, and the scheduled visits and the guarantee come to an end.

What happens in the event of a fire if I do not have a maintenance certificate?

Your policy very likely contains a clause for lack of maintenance. Without proof of maintenance by a professional company, the insurer can reduce or refuse compensation.

I would rather pay per visit than have a contract. Is that possible?

Yes, we also work on a one-off basis, by quote. But a single visit gives you neither the tracking of due dates nor the motor cover. The day the motor fails, the bill is entirely yours.

How long does an intervention take?

Between one and three hours depending on the size of the installation and its condition. We work outside your service hours: early in the morning, late in the evening, or on your closing day.

How much does a contract cost?

The monthly fee depends on the length of your hood, the number of motors and the number of visits. Our Estimate page gives you an immediate range; the exact amount is set after the initial maintenance visit.

How does signing work?

After the initial maintenance visit, you receive the contract. The first visit under contract is scheduled straight away and the monthly fee is collected by direct debit.

Do you work with insurers directly?

We are neither an insurer nor a broker. We produce the document your insurer expects, and we send it to your broker if you ask us to.

Where do you operate?

Across Belgium: Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders. For another country, contact us.

I am already a client. Where can I find my certificates?

In your client area, along with your invoices and your upcoming visits. You can also call us: we will send them again.

Tell us the length of your hood. We take care of the rest.
